There was a bit of luck involved
The unnamed soldier had calibrated his shot, using a .338 Lapua Magnum bullet loaded into an L115A sniper rifle, at the group, standing outside Mosul, northern Iraq, to hit 2. The third was the victim of the bullet's ricochet.

The awe-inspiring feat of marksmanship came after the sniper's unit were following the ISIS terrorists, who had set to out to kill the town's inhabitants. SAS took action after the terrorists began to collect the town's women and children for slaughter via gunfire.
